Many see the beginning of a new year or quarter as a “refresh button”, setting new goals with new sights to accomplish in the upcoming twelve months. Have you made professional resolutions for yourself? Will this be the year that you see yourself becoming a leader that is conscientious of others in a way that enables growth? Or do you aspire to conquer that goal utilizing your (often struggling) team? Here are a few things to think about as you set those resolutions and some ideas on how to give yourself a mindset head start.
To lead, you need to be self-aware. Who are you, where are you going and how will you get there? Being confident in these answers and your personal vision will allow you to better guide others.
Not only do you have to be in tune with yourself, but, you also need to be in tune with your team. Noticing the differences in how people interact with others allows you to better collaborate and manage them in a way that works for their personal styles.
Success is understanding people. When working with others, if you are able to understand people’s preferences, you are able to transcend barriers that prevent you from success.
