Influencing Work Relationships

Workplace relationships can be the most productive or frustrating relationships we have as individuals.

Workplace relationships can be the most productive or frustrating relationships we have as individuals. Our ability to work with others, get results when we may not necessarily be “in charge” and build partnerships is critical to our professional success in the short-term and long-term. In this program, we uncover the core skills necessary to communicate clearly, set expectations, deal with individuals who have different preferences than ours and handle the inevitable conflicts that arise when talented individuals work with one another.

Your employees may need these skills if:

  • Communication breaks down between members of the same team or across departments.
  • Individuals avoid each other because of unresolved or potential conflict.
  • Individual differences get in the way of being completely productive when working with others.
  • Team members and peers sometimes don’t keep commitments to one another – and it is creating problems in accomplishing tasks and projects.
  • Emotion takes over any discussion or disagreement and clouds the true issues.

Program Outcomes:

  • Recognize your own style of behaving with others and use it to take advantage of your strengths.
  • Use a Communication Cycle to understand the needs of others and to present your own ideas.
  • Gain commitment to requests using a simple model that empowers others to take action.
  • Hold others accountable to their promises, without damaging the relationship.
  • Work collaboratively to find solutions that meet the needs of all people involved.
